I don’t know about you, but have you ever come home from a busy day and wondered how the heck you fit ALL that in to ONE DAY? I get exhausted just thinking about it. We live busy lives, have a lot of stress and a to-do list that never seems to go away.

What if we changed things up a bit. Is there is any value to slowing down? Is there any benefit to doing less?

Sometimes we are so focused on all we have to do we forget all we have. We are so rushed to get our workout in, finish work, run errands, eat right and see friends we do not even enjoy any of it. What is the point in that?!?

When you take care of yourself and make yourself a priority, stress levels decrease and everything becomes a lot more enjoyable. Things become easier. Isn’t that what we all want?

I challenge you to try to slow down a bit and see if you notice any change in your health, weight, sleep or overall productivity.

Here are some ideas to get you started:

– Take 10 minutes mid day and go for a walk. Maybe you even grab a coworker and talk business—regardless you are outside and getting the body moving
– For your afternoon snack, sit outside and relax. Even if it is only for 5 minutes. Enjoy each bite and catch your breath rather than shoveling food at your desk in between meetings.
– Cook dinner! Instead of rushing and getting take out or eating a frozen dinner, take 30-45 minutes and cook a dinner for you and your family. Put some music on, talk about your day and just enjoy the experience of preparing homemade food that will fuel you for success.
– Get your hands dirty! Go on a hike, do some gardening, chill on the beach or go camping. Enjoy nature and appreciate every moment.
– Try a new workout. Sick of the same old routine? Go try a new form of movement that you have been wanting to try. Make exercise fun again!
– Wake up 30 minutes earlier and stretch. Read the paper, pour yourself a good cup of coffee or tea and savor the start of the day.
– Get into bed 30 minutes earlier. Read a book or a magazine, do some stretches or simply focus your breath and unwind.
– Take a day off from work! Drive an hour away and go sit by a pool, a beach or chill in a park. Trust me it is refreshing! (I just did this yesterday and I feel great!)

Have fun!
